About Family, Grief and Humanity

Grief and loss are universal emotions. From humanity’s point of view, they are ongoing, inevitable and ever present and therefore mundane. However, for an individual, they are unique and so huge that they can crush you. In the moment of grief, one’s own world stops, but the rest of the world continues on.

’About Family, Grief and Humanity’ mainly consists of self-portraits painted through a mirror and reinterpretations of family albums. Child characters are also repeated in the works, reminding us of human life cycle and the continuous chain of generations.

On the technical side of art, my exhibition is colored by unusual choices and bold experimentation with new techniques: watercolor on MDF panel, oil paint on lace cloth and ceramics pinched to achieve a fragile look.
